Many moms go through the “right of passage” called “mom burnout”. It starts right away after you have a baby! Delivery can be physically exhausting. Than you don’t get a lot of sleep. Before you know it, it snowballs and evolves as you have more children and they get older and enter the phase of countless activities! So what are some Great Ways to Banish Mom Burnout?
My Joy Filled Life has some amazing tips to conquer the Mommy Burnout. Even if you feel better physically, we know that moms experience emotional, mental and spiritual exhaustion, as well! These tips will help you move in the right direction and be the best mom you can be!
Whether you’re a stay-at-home mom or a working mother, we all experience a level of exhaustion that motherhood brings. We get caught up with our children’s commitments, as well as commitments of our own! Before you know it, you are taking your frustrations out on your family, regardless of how much you love them. How can you make it through the day more constructively?
My Joy Filled Life talks about how not every mom experiences burnout in the same way, which is such an important thing to remember! Whatever your experience, it may be time to reevaluate how to get through your days!
So what is your attitude towards motherhood? No matter what stage of parenthood you are at, it only takes some practical tools to help refocus your time and energy into positive ways!
Love Who You Are
As a mother, it’s almost a given that you compare yourself to other moms and feel like you have fallen short. Why do we do this to ourselves? My Joy Filled Life talks about how women are created as social, relational beings, which helps to keep us grounded. But while this helps in some ways, it can start bringing up the wrong questions of how you compare to other moms!
Some may also consider themselves perfectionists, and feel failure when they fall short of what they thought they needed to do. This can lead us to stop trying before we potentially fail again!
But these are all lies! When you step back and see that you need to focus on the goals of you and your own family and stop comparing your family to others, you begin embracing who you really are. That can be so freeing and it feels amazing! My Joy Filled Life talks about how great it is to let that negativity go. Stop filling up your life with unnecessary stress, just to try to prove your worth!
2. Embrace the Passions and Talents You Have
My Joy Filled Life talks about the importance of writing a “Life Statement”. Identify the things that you’re good at and what you’re passionate about. This can be so valuable because you see in writing what you should be spending your time and energy on! What is in your life that is sucking up your time, but not valuable to you?
By doing this, you’ll start spending more time on the things you love, which in turn, will help you avoid the burnout that comes with doing things that deplete you. And don’t forget… just because you’re a mom doesn’t mean you can’t focus on the gifts that you have been given in life that give you energy!
3. Let Go and Say No
We all know that there are times when things come at you over and over again and before you know it, you’re drowning in the details and juggling all of the things that you said “yes” to! There comes a time when you have to learn to say no without the guilt!
It can be hard to feel like you are disappointing anyone by saying no. But if it doesn’t fit well into your current lifestyle or objectives on how to be spending your time (or if it’s something you’re just not passionate about!), you don’t have to do it!
The great thing about that means that someone else, who may be passionate about the things that you are saying no to, may be a great fit and will have the chance to step up and offer their talents!
